I am German and I also read the poem Elfenlied by Eduard Mörike , when I was searching for everything connected Elfenlied.
Honestly I still dont exactly know why this Manga is called Elfenlied, but I suppose it's because the Horns somehow remind of elven's ears.
When I watched the anime at first I thought they are ears, but later on I read they are Horns.^^
xD

I guess in cases like these we must leave it as the writer intended. I really want the translatoin but i can just search for it on the net.

And thanx for the amazing job!!

Keep up the good work.

You should add the translation at the end. In the original Japanese version it was in German so I don't see why it needs to be translated to English.

It would be nice to read the words as they are said, but in Japan the poem was written in German, and they cant speak German, so obviously the writer wrote it in the original language for a reason.

Anyways there are tons of translations on the internet for the poem.

Yep, tranlation on the back would be best for everyone. We`re dying for the next few chapters!

True poetry and music is understood by emotion not the literal meaning of words. Don't get me wrong, I would love to know what they are saying, but I would rather read/sing it in its original rhythm of syllables and read the meaning later(or just go to the back quick). That way you get the full effect of the artistry.

You are egoist at all. You dont think that not only english- or americanspeaking readers of Elfen Lied like this great manga dont you? I mean it is pretty hard to read on english, but on german it is impossible. Du verstehe?

Leave it alone. If someone wants a translation of it, they can do it themselves, it is not like it is impossible or anything as it is in german and with latin letters. Besides, the song isn't unknown, I bet there is lots of translations on the internet.

If it had been in japanese, it would have been different, but it is GERMAN!

NO NO NO. Replace it. It is important to understand what this poem about. I mean it is can be very emotional. It is affect mood of manga charasters. Translation on the back is pretty late.

same idea with ysen, just leave the poem like it is and put the translation on the back....

mapokl 2008-07-19 00:25:50 CET   75752
You can leave it alone, i know german :P
for others... I don't care :P

i think it is better for everyone that you leave the poem like it is and put the translation on the back, all will have what want... ^^

and congratulations for the great job =D
